Technology Ethics, Strategy, and Planning

Speaker: Chris Miciek

Technology has become a central feature of the recruiting space and with it, ever more complicated decision making around our technology choices. Technology decision making has moved from primarily budget and implementation questions to considering downstream implications and unexpected outcomes. What might save time on a process may have negative environmental impacts. The force mutiplier app might undermine an initiative to improve students' interpersonal skills. Leaders today need to know how to navigate these new complexities, know how to model wise and ethical practices for their teams, and advocate among other leaders for what's best for students' development and their future, not just FDS numbers. This session will explore why and how to be a values oriented leader on technology. The session will include a case study using EACE's Mission and Vision Statements* plus participants' own organizational mission and values statements. *EACE Mission Statement: To foster relationships empowering colleges and employers to develop the future workforce. EACE Vision Statement: Colleges and Employers working together to create equitable workforce outcomes.
