EACE 2024 Board of Directors Elections
Director, Membership Recruitment & Retention Candidate
Kristin Eicholtz Executive Director of Career and Civic Engagement Moravian University
1. Describe your interest in serving on the EACE Board in this capacity.
As a dedicated advocate for diversity within higher education and EACE, I have demonstrated my commitment through various initiatives. Serving as a First Gen mentor on my campus, I actively support students navigating the challenges of being the first in their families to pursue higher education. I have created presentations for the LGBTQ+ community, empowering individuals to understand their rights in the job search process. My collaboration with disability services has resulted in the development of programming and resources tailored to support our neurodiverse community, fostering inclusivity on campus. Additionally, during my three-year tenure on the EACE conference Programming Committee, I spearheaded efforts to address implicit bias by advocating for the removal of personal identifying factors in the proposal review process. This initiative aimed to create a fair and equitable platform for all presenters. Through these experiences, I have honed my ability to understand and address the diverse needs of different communities, both within higher education and within EACE. I am eager to leverage this background in my role as the Director of Membership, Recruitment, and Retention to further promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
2. What skills and experiences do you possess that have prepared you to be successful in this role?
During my 14 years within EACE, I've transitioned from a newcomer to an active member, conference presenter, and leader on various committees. This breadth of experience has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of our membership's diversity. Recognizing that individuals engage with EACE in different ways, my aim is to facilitate their involvement, whether they're college partners or employer partners, aligning with their professional development goals. A crucial aspect of this role is effective collaboration and communication. I have demonstrated these skills throughout my professional work in higher education, where relationship-building has been paramount to success. I've contributed to established teams, expanded teams from one to four professional staff and sixteen student peer coaches, and currently lead a team of twelve professionals. While my team strengthens me, I believe my ability to listen and enact transformative leadership has a significant impact. Furthermore, I was part of a team of three co-chairs to select the organizations next AMC. From the Request for Proposal submission, to the review of applications, to interviews, to making a final recommendation to the board I feel confident that I can approach this role with a strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a cohesive team. Lastly, my energy, attention to detail, organizational skills, experience with assessment and research, and genuine appreciation for EACE's contributions to my own professional growth have prepared me for this role. I am committed to leveraging these qualities to advance the mission of EACE and support its members effectively.
3. What ideas and/or goals do you have for this position?
In this role, my primary goal would be to cultivate a thriving and inclusive community within EACE, ensuring every member feels valued and supported in their professional journey. Some thoughts I have for targeted initiatives include:-Streamlined Membership Processes: Through data-driven strategies and member feedback, I would like to explore a way to streamline membership recruitment and retention processes. This involves conducting comprehensive research, implementing targeted marketing campaigns, and enhancing member benefits alignment.-Collaborative Engagement Initiatives: I will aim to foster closer collaboration between Membership Recruitment & Retention and Member Services departments, and work with committees to develop engaging initiatives like virtual networking events and peer-to-peer learning forums. Ones that go beyond leading up to the annual conference!-Continuous Improvement: Through ongoing evaluation and metrics tracking, I will aim to ensure our initiatives remain effective and adaptable to the evolving needs of our diverse membership base. These initiatives aim not only to strengthen EACE's membership but also to advance our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education and our employer relationships.
