Serving all Temple students and recent alumni, the Career Center provides a full range of services to enhance student professional and career development, graduate school preparation, and optimize internship and employment opportunities. The Career Coach provides individual and group career guidance in an effort to assist students in developing the competencies needed to make decisions about their choice of major and career options. The Career Coach accomplishes this work in close partnership with the Career Development team, through a strong working relationship with their fellow Outreach Specialist, and through extensive networking across the Temple University community. The Career Coach will assist all students and alumni who visit the Career Center. They will be assigned specific industries and student groups to focus on, and this role will focus their efforts on students interested in STEM careers, collaborating closely with colleagues in the College of Engineering and College of Science and Technology. He/she will build relationships and collaborate with faculty, staff and students to deliver content and develop programs related to professional development of their liaison areas. In meeting with students, He/she focus on meeting the student’s presented needs and connecting them the appropriate campus resources. He/she will help students maximize their use of Career Center technology tools, develop job and internship search strategies, as well as provide feedback on resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and other professional materials. In addition to job search advice, the Career Coach will interpret career assessments, conduct mock interviews, and assist students with decisions to attend graduate school and navigating the application process. The Career Coach will also facilitate professional development workshops and coordinate university-wide career events. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least two (2) years of experience working with college students, clients of traditional college student age, or nontraditional college students.
  • Experience in professional development coaching in resume writing, interview preparation, and job search strategies; creating and implementing professional development programs; and presenting to large and small groups using PowerPoint or other software.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Understanding of Career Counseling theory and the career decision making process as it relates to college students.
  • Knowledge of the role assessment plays in the career decision making process. 
  • Ability to manage a wide variety of projects/requests including innovative virtual programming.
  • Demonstrated use of software such as Handshake or other Career Resource Management Systems.
  • Ability to effectively network with and cultivate relationships with stakeholders and campus partners.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or Psychology.
  • Experience in Career Services or Career Counseling in a Higher Education institution.
