A Letter from the President

It is hard to believe it has been a month since many of us gathered in Hartford, Connecticut at the 2019 Annual Conference! I am honored to be serving as the 2019-2020 EACE President and leading an amazing group of Committees and Board Members. EACE has been a key part of my success and a connecting point for me throughout my career. The Association has given me far more than I can ever give back during this year, but I’ll try.

Our new mission, “To foster relationships between colleges and employers to develop the future workforce,” gives us the framework for the year ahead. In addition to our mission statement, I have asked our teams to consider using an “Outward Mindset” to understand what current and future members of our Association need to solve the most pressing problems of today and tomorrow.

Using this “Outward Mindset,” we have a few key goals for the year. First, with our new Director of Diversity and Inclusion board position filled, we will be further refining our strategies in that area. We have already made the commitment to explore how not only EACE can better engage with the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HCBU), Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), and Asian Pacific Islander American Association of Colleges and Universities (APIACU) campuses in our region, but also how employers can better engage with those members. Second, we are looking at all that we do as an association to make sure we are delivering the content that you need to develop the future workforce. Expect to see more content through a variety of delivery methods throughout the year.

Perhaps the most exciting change for the coming year is a shift of the Annual Conference to August 5-7, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland! Our Annual Conference Co-Chairs are already hard at work creating their team and brainstorming ideas. Reflecting on my time in the Association, it all started with the Annual Conference, and I hope you consider attending EACE20.

Again, thank you to our members for trusting me as the EACE President this year. I look forward to the exciting future achievements of our Committees and Board. Enjoy the remainder of the summer, and have a great fall recruiting season and academic semester!

Best Wishes,

Craig Single
