Happy New Year!

It’s 2020 and I’m excited for what is yet to come for EACE! Over the past six months, our Committee Co-Chairs and Board of Directors have been working hard on our Strategic Plan, which I’m thrilled to share with members here. This Strategic Plan was created under Immediate Past President, Noah Simon’s leadership and it continues to evolve as we strive to meet the needs of membership.

An important addition this year is the Director of Diversity & Inclusion board position under the leadership of Dr. Alicia Monroe. Diversity and inclusion is something critically important to me both personally and professionally, and needs to be part of everything we do in the Association. In the near future, you see new opportunities for learning and networking incorporated in the EACE 2020 Annual Conference that demonstrates a blossoming EACE D&I culture. The Board is committed to continuing this focus and we hope many of you will help!

You will also notice we haven’t stopped all the other important work within the Association. Membership development, professional development, and employer engagement continue to be an important focus of our Committees. We continue to focus on providing excellent programming and engagement opportunities while managing our assets in a way that will provide benefits for our current and future members. In fact, we have already implemented new tools and technologies that will help us operate more efficiently, particularly in planning for our hallmark Annual Conference. If you haven’t noticed, our 2020 Annual Conference will be held in August at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott!

Lastly, I want to thank our past and present volunteers. It is their hard work that really make this all possible. Through my involvement and experiences as an EACE Committee Member, Co-Chair, and former Board Member, I was able to develop relationships with mentors. These key individuals have helped to make me who I am today. As I watched a show about Mr. Rogers, I reflected on his charge at Dartmouth’s 2002 Commencement to “take ten seconds to think of the people who have helped you become who you are.” Can you think of anyone from your EACE experience? I certainly do. I have many whom I call mentors and friends.

If you have questions about our Strategic Plan, please reach out to me or any Board Member. You can find our contact information on the website here. We would love to hear your thoughts! Have a wonderful spring and I can’t wait to see many of you at our 2020 Annual Conference in August!

Happy New Year and Best Wishes,

Craig Single
