Job description

Brandeis is seeking to hire a Senior Career Coach in the International Business School department. The Career Coach works closely with full-time graduate students, with a focus on the MS in Business Analytics (MSBA) cohort as well as other cohorts as directed, coaching students to realize their career potential, build their professional brand, and increase their readiness to meet and network with global employers. S/he designs and implements experientially based professional development programming opportunities for these populations. S/he manages a specific caseload of students from admission to graduation; collaborates with Career Strategies and Engagement (CSE) team members and the Executive Director, Corporate Relations on department planning and future initiatives. In addition, s/he coaches Brandeis IBS alumni as needed.

Essential & Other Functions:

  • Career Coaching: Coach individuals and groups to develop professionally and attain their career goals; Utilize coaching techniques and resources that meet the needs of diverse populations; Design and facilitate customized coaching groups; Collaborate with members of the Admissions, Careers and Engagement teams to develop coaching plans and strategize about how best to work with individual students; Maintain accurate and complete coaching notes; Follow-up with students as needed to track progress and encourage engagement with the Career Strategies team.

  • Program Development: Design and deliver customized education programs (classroom career curriculum, workshops, panels, networking events, professional development courses) and services for MSBA students (and other cohorts as appropriate) in cooperation with the CSE team; Collaborate with student leaders, academic advisors, student experience, program directors, English Language Programs, International Students and Scholars Office, faculty and others to identify student needs and plan career activities and events that promote personal and professional development; Measure the efficacy of professional development programs and use outcomes-based data to influence programming; Identify and/or develop materials and resources that support programming efforts.

  • Project Management: Initiate and lead projects that support the mission of the Career Strategies Center; Co-lead annual Brandeis IBS Mentor Program; Execute and track job and internship placements for MSBA students (and other cohorts as directed) with a goal of 100% summer placement for first-year MSBA cohort and superior placement statistics for graduating MSBA cohort; Master use of career-related resources (including paid vendor subscriptions) and provide ongoing training to students and Career Strategies staff; work closely with student development colleagues to support the summer orientation programs; Represent the Career Strategies Center at various functions and events; Actively engage with professional organizations in the career development field.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with all Brandeis IBS departments: primarily Admissions, Careers, Engagement, Student Services and Alumni, as well as faculty, program directors, and academic advisors, and engaging with other areas as needed to ensure a student-centered approach. S/he will participate in Admissions Committee meetings as invited. S/he will also collaborate with the CSE team to develop engagement messaging, strategy and programs as it relates to user experience, defining the most effective elements and approaches to ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree required in Business, Counseling, Human Resources Development, College Student, Personnel Administration, Higher Education Administration or related field- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience required, preferably in career services, recruiting, or HR environment.

  • Knowledge of business analytics/data analytics careers a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of business school placement data collection process a plus.
  • Proficiency with technology.
  • Knowledge of consulting industry and/or the case interviewing process a plus.
  • Ability to coach diverse individuals and groups (international students).
  • Knowledge of service delivery models and resources used in business school career services.
  • Knowledge of career development theory and practice.
