Job Description

The Assistant Director, Experiential Learning, is responsible for the development, implementation, and success of Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD) sponsored experiential learning initiatives. The incumbent will build and sustain collaborative relationships with alumni, employers, and parents as well as campus constituents, including Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations. The incumbent will also leverage CCPD relationships, new and existing, to assist in attaining the concurrent goals of increasing and strengthening alumni and parent engagement and the desired student outcome of increased career readiness.

Internship/Practicum Management

Facilitate workshops for students interested in participating in the Internship/Practicum program. Meet with students to discuss and assist with questions related to the Internship/Practicum program. Track student progress and activities required for the Internship/Practicum program. Research and resolve issues with students, faculty, and employers surrounding the completion of internships. Collect and share data with office staff and internal stakeholders regarding students and employers participating in the Internships/Practicums program.

Programs and Events

Promote the Internship/Practicum program to students, faculty, and staff. Coordinate all aspects of CCPD sponsored experiential learning initiatives. Market experiential learning opportunities to students, alumni, employers, and parents. Provide input on the ROI of existing experiential learning programs. Create new events and programs under The Roger Connection umbrella. Organize consortium and/or professional association events, as needed. Represent the University and the CCPD at regional and national conferences and events, alumni, employer, and parent events.

Administration

Develop print and web based resources for students, faculty, and staff. Assist students with completion of add/drop forms. Provide faculty with grading packets. Ensure student cooperative learning experience documentation is uploaded into Hawks Hunt and/or MyRWU to meet requirements. Serve as a primary contact for alumni, parents and community members seeking to volunteer and/or support experiential learning initiatives. Utilize the Roger Connection software to recruit and track experiential learning participants and serve as the primary administrative person. Establish and maintain relationships with campus stakeholders including Institutional Advancement, alumni, parents, faculty, and students. Prepare statistical reports for Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations leadership, the CCPD annual report, and related publications. Review and approve internship opportunities posted in Hawks Hunt. Develop and maintain web content related to areas of oversight. Maintain membership with professional associations dedicated to experiential learning and the career advancement of college students.


Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field. Knowledge and practice of current career development theories, hiring trends, employment practices, and student populations. Knowledge of career and academic development, counseling, and working with young adults.
