Membership 30 Day Notice
The EACE Board of Directors approved changes that affect our Bylaws. These changes are both in line with our Board goals, the EACE mission and our duty to streamline processes for our volunteers and administrative headquarters. This webpage serves as a mandatory 30-day notice, allowing the membership an opportunity to ask questions and follow up as needed. You will have an opportunity to vote on these items in March 2016.
In summary, the changes outline the following:
1. Changing the name of the EACE blog from “Bridges” to “Trending”
2. Establishing an Outcomes and Assessment Committee as a standing committee
Please review the EACE Bylaws Amendments that require a membership vote stated below.
1. Changing the name of the EACE blog from "Bridges Newsletter" to "Trending Blog"
Bylaws: Article 8: Section 2: Remove all wording of Bridges Newsletter and replace with Trending Blog.
Bylaws: Article 7: Section 3C: Remove all wording of Bridges Newsletter and replace with Trending Blog.
The rationale for changing the name from “Bridges” to “Trending” is as follows. Through research of various professional associations and general interest blogs as well as through conversations with colleagues, we believe that the name "Trending" will more accurately capture the purpose and content of the evolving EACE blog.
This term will resonate with employers who are members of EACE and those who are not yet members of EACE helping them to learn and understand what is important and "trending" in the field of career services. This title also appeals to career center staff (both EACE members and those who are not yet members) helping them to immediately see the value of the organization and the relevancy of the blog.
2. Establishing an assessment committee as a standing committee, hereinafter known as the Outcomes and Assessment Committee
Bylaws: Article 7: Section 3.A: Supervision of the Outcomes and Assessment Committee will be added to the duties of The Director, Professional Development
Bylaws: Article 8: Section 2: The Outcomes and Assessment Committee will be added as a standing committee
The EACE Task Force on Assessment proposes a permanent committee on learning outcomes and other assessment needs in the future, to be known as the “Outcomes and Assessment Committee”. The overarching goal of this task force is to establish EACE as a leader in learning outcomes and assessment. We want the association to be recognized as a key organization who can lead a culture shift in the field of career services and university recruiting/relations toward one actively embracing assessment in their work. A committee is needed to bring this vision to reality and hold it as a priority of EACE as the association evolves and the demand for ROI in all facets of our profession grows.
