In Rembrance of an EACE member, Victoria Ball
Ball, Victoria Irene, 62, of Providence, RI and Pittsburgh, PA passed away Thursday Nov. 3, 2011. She was the daughter of Florence C. Ball and the late Hiram P. Ball, Sr. of Pittsburgh, Pa. She is the sister of Hiram P. Ball, Jr. and his wife Margot of Orleans, MA and Sewickley, PA and Susan C Ball of Glenshaw, PA. She is the aunt of Alexander M. Ball and his wife Erica of CA and Justin C. Ball and his wife Abigail and their two children of ID.
Vickie grew up in Valencia, PA., attending Mars High School. She began college at Hood College but transferred to/graduated from Franklin and Marshall as one of the first female graduates. Other firsts included the first woman on the F&M Alumni Assoc. Board and the first graduating class to receive a Master’s in Education (in Social Restoration) from Leigh University. This prepared her to teach in prisons, mental hospitals and develop a unique group home for teenage delinquent girls. In 1978 she was named one of the Outstanding Young Women of the U.S.
Vickie was one of the first ADD coaches in the US and has been in private practice now for over 10 years. She is a national speaker/trainer (radio/TV/DVDs) on ADD issues. Previously she was a career counselor with over thirty years at Brown University, Dartmouth College, and Franklin& Marshall College (having one of the first “official” career counselor positions in the country). .
Former Hallowell Center Coach, & Masters CTI coach, Member ADDA, CHADD, and ICF. Held all board positions including President for EACE/ECEN/ECPO and received the Distinguished Service Award. She was also very active in the RI Adult Support Group.
Vickie traveled extensively, loved snorkeling, Cajun dancing, the arts and wine-tastings.
A Gathering to remember Vickie will be held Monday, December 19th at 9:00am at the Providence Marriott on 1 Orms St. in Providence RI and on Sunday January 15th at 2:00pm in the St Barnabas Chapel at 5827 Meridian Road in Gibsonia, PA.
