Reporting to the Associate Dean for MBA Programs, the Assistant Dean and Director of MBA Career Management provides strategic, operational, and staff leadership to a highly talented team dedicated to supporting the career preparation and job search success of 500 full-time and 350 evening MBA candidates. The Assistant Dean will establish the strategy and execution of employer outreach and career management programming for the MSB and serve as a key ambassador of the School to build its brand in the external job market by expanding and nurturing critically important relations with industry, governmental, and nonprofit employers in line with the career interests and abilities of MSB students. The Assistant Dean will work closely with student club leaders, faculty, and colleagues in admissions, student services, communications, and alumni relations, and will interface frequently with individual students through coaching interactions and the delivery of group programs. The Assistant Dean oversees comprehensive data collection as recommended by the Career Services Council and assures that results are verified, carefully analyzed and utilized in continuous improvement efforts, and communicated timely and effectively to all appropriate audiences. The Assistant Dean supervises a staff of ten, including seven direct reports, and manages an operational budget of approximately $200,000. The position maintains strategic responsibility for aligning resources to meet the needs of a diverse student body, advancing their careers as principled leaders with a global mindset equipped to build a better world for themselves and others. An advanced degree is required; MBA or equivalent degree preferred, along with a minimum of nine years of progressive career management and/or corporate experience, including significant leadership, supervisory, and team-building experience. A proven track record of strategic planning and effective implementation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for working closely with students, recruiters, alumni, and faculty are essential. Demonstrated facility using information technology systems including recruiting database programs, a track record of successful staff management and budget administration, an analytical skill set, and active involvement with appropriate professional associations are also required. A strong customer service focus complemented by an innovative outlook, superior organizational skills, high level of flexibility, and the ability to optimize technological and human resources to achieve measurable results in support of talented MBA students' career advancement will be important considerations in the selection of the Assistant Dean.
