EACE Members:
This has been a very full year with the EACE Board and our many
committees hard at work. I wanted to give you a quick update on
just SOME of the EACE happenings:
- With an eye on being good stewards of the EACE funds during
these challenging times, the EACE board formed a taskforce to
identify areas where we could cut the 2008-09 operating budget.
The Board approved these cuts, amounting to 10% for this fiscal
year.
- The 2009
EACE Conference Committee is developing an incredible conference
experience for us in Buffalo-Niagara, NY (June 17 - 19) . Look
at the developing details and register today!
- The Awards and Research
Grant Committee has made substantial changes to a few of
our awards in order to better recognize member contributions
to the organization and to our field. Submit your nominations
by March 15th.
- This year the Professional Development Committee offered
our new webinar series…stay tuned for upcoming listings.
- Road Trips to the Real World was a wonderful success in January
with 435 students from member schools registered to visit 23
companies to learn about their operations.
- The Membership Services Committee has kicked off its membership
contest to increase EACE employer membership. College members
– motivate employers to join – you could win a free
year of EACE webinars or a 2009 conference registration.
- Finance Committee is working diligently to update our Fiscal
Policy Manual – that is not an easy task.
- In 2008-09, we have each received two issues of our Bridges
Newsletter with a new focus – high quality articles, key
information, and member updates. Announcements of upcoming events
and opportunities are now found in the bi-weekly EACE eNews.
- Professional Exchange Committee is now working to arrange
Summer 2009 site visits for members. Stay tuned for a wonderful
slate of options.
- Have you received contact from a Sponsorship
Committee member? They are working hard to provide members
the opportunity to sponsor various EACE programs, resources,
and events!
- Our new EACE Knowledge Network, a database with search capacity,
will allow for members to search for members based on expertise,
type of school or employer, years of experience, and so forth.
This will roll out in a few months.
If you have any ideas, concerns, suggestions, or questions, or
would like to get involved, please you contact me at 540-231-8077.
