GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports students in attainment of their career placement goals through the development of job search skills and placement activities. Teaches job search skills, develops job opportunities, communicates with potential employers and conducts job readiness presentations. Utilizes career management and job database technology to best serve students, alumni and employers. Initiates and follows through with on-going outreach to potential employers and placement sites. Implements the Cooperative Education, Service Learning and Credit for Prior Learning (PLC) programs for designated academic areas. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Career Placement Representative reports to the Director Career Services SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises support personnel as assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Assists students with implementing career placement goals through job search strategies to include resume/cover letter preparation, interviewing skills, and electronic job search. 2.Develops and presents job readiness workshops and employer panels for students and faculty. 3.Assists with marketing, and attends Consortium and department sponsored career fairs. 4.Utilizes Social Media to promote Career Placement activities 5.Compiles information and updates data on employment and salary trends; utilizes career management and CSO job database technology to best serve employers and students; maintains and updates career content in assigned areas for CPS web pages and College portal, and provides accurate related reports. 6.Increases placement sites through on-going and targeted outreach with central Massachusetts employers and organizations including meeting with employers/agencies, attending career fairs and related events, and inviting employers/agencies to visit and recruit potential students from QCC. 7.Assists with the development, promotion, documentation, and implementation of the Cooperative Education program for designated academic areas. 8.Recruits students, screens for eligibility, visits work sites and evaluates work-based learning experience. 9.Develops and provides students opportunities for service learning, credit for prior learning (PLC) and specialized cooperative education programs in assigned areas of study, including coordination of special events. 10.Works closely with Director of Career Services on implementing service learning initiative. 11.Presents workshops on credit for prior learning, service learning, cooperative education, job search strategies, market trends and related topics. 12.Provides academic advising to new and current students during peak registration periods (i.e. event registration); regularly attends advisor meetings and training workshops to remain current on best practices. 13.Works cooperatively with academic advisors, faculty and staff to reach department goals in serving student population with career placement, credit for prior learning and service learning credit. 14.Maintains current professional knowledge in applicable areas (i.e. assigned programs, new trends/advances and best practices, professional literature; attends conferences, workshops and training sessions). 15.Attends relevant meetings, engages in professional development opportunities, updates and implements policies and procedures associated with career placement, credit for prior learning and service learning areas; represents the department at meetings. 16.Actively supports the teaching and learning process; practices honesty and integrity in and out of the classroom; strives to create and support a student-centered environment while fostering academic innovation and excellence. 17.Works actively with other areas of the college to ensure a spirit of college-wide collaboration, collegiality, civility, and teamwork. Respects the function of dissent in an academic institution while advancing a collegial atmosphere of campus collaboration. 18.Embraces the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation. 19.Provides flexible, responsive and high quality service to all, be they students, community, or staff, and continuously assess processes and procedures and revise accordingly. 20.Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Bachelor’s degree. 2.Three (3) years professional experience and/or training in job development and career placement, including employer recruitment 3.Successful experience in a position that required strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and independent work, including delivery of classroom presentations 4.Experience working with a diverse population PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Master’s degree in related field 2.Demonstrated knowledge of workforce trends 3.Experience with career management/job search technology 4.Experience in cooperative-education, internship, and/or service learning programs

SALARY: Salary is commensurate with MCCC/MTA salary schedule and dependent upon such factors as education and experience. Minimum starting salary is $45,940. Anticipated starting salary range of $45,940 – $55,000, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
