EACE promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion where all are respected, accepted and safe.


About the Scholarships

EACE offers two Diversity and Inclusion Scholarships each year in memory of Rick McLellan and Ernie Andrews. These are open to both employers and college professionals working in the field and/or graduate students working or intending to work in the field of career services or human resources. You do not need to be an EACE Member or first-time EACE Annual Conference attendee to apply.

Benefits

  • Complimentary individual EACE Membership for one fiscal year, July 1 through June 30 ($175 value).

  • Complimentary registration to the EACE 2024 Annual Conference ($569 value). 
    • EACE will provide the recipients with full conference registration at early bird pricing.

  • Up to $1,500 stipend to be used for:
    • Lodging for the Annual Conference at the EACE24 host hotel, the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown.
      • Two nights in a standard room at the group rate of $219 plus taxes/fees.
      • Recipients must reserve room by the group rate deadline .
    • Travel expenses round-trip for the Annual Conference.
      • Airfare/train/taxi mileage expense.
      • Recipients are expected to make cost-effective arrangements in advance.
  • All applicants will be provided with guidance and resources on connecting with professional mentors within EACE between the end of the selection process and the Annual Conference.

Additional Information

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must be individuals from groups underrepresented in EACE. Individuals from the following groups are strongly encouraged to apply:
    • Black/African-American
    • Latin(o/a)/Latinx
    • Asian/Pacific Islander
    • Native American
    • Veterans
    • People with disabilities
    • Members of the LGBTQIA+
    • Others who feel they may be underrepresented in the profession are encouraged to apply with explanation.
  • Candidates should be either a professional or graduate student working in the field of human resources or career services or another related field that is connected to EACE.

Policies:

  • The recipient will be responsible for paying expenses that exceed the $1,500 stipend or do not adhere to the EACE Travel Expense Policies

  • EACE reimbursement policies and procedures must be followed, and Expense Report must be submitted within one week following the Annual Conference. Click here for reimbursement policies and to access the Expense Report. 

  • The recipient is required to actively participate on an EACE Committee the year following the conference.

  • The recipient is required to submit a blog about their conference experience within two weeks following the EACE Annual Conference. The blog should be submitted hereClick here for an example.

Application Process

Applications will be reviewed and scored based on the information provided, so please make sure to write complete and detailed essays in line with each prompt. Committee considerations will also include whether or not someone has attended the EACE Annual Conference and/or been awarded a grant/scholarship to attend in previous years. 2024 D&I Scholarship applications are open December 4, 2023 and close March 1, 2024. All applicants will be notified of their application status by mid-April 2024.

Application Tips:

  • Respond to essay prompts clearly and provide detailed examples.
  • First time EACE Conference attendees are encouraged to apply.
  • Previous applicants who were not selected can reapply for 2024 funding.
  • Applicants do not need to be an EACE member.
  • Include all committee involvement, past or present in your application.
  • Don’t hesitate to have a colleague review your application before submission.
