Road Trips to the Real World - Information & Registration

Thanks for your interest in taking a "Road Trip to the Real World" sponsored by your college and the EACE (Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers) Liberal Arts Network. A site visit is your opportunity to learn first-hand about a career field, network with employers, and explore internship and job opportunities. The site visits are FREE! You will only need to provide your own transportation. You will also be on your own for meals unless otherwise noted.

ROAD TRIPS TO THE REAL WORLD is sponsored by the Liberal Arts Network of the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers (EACE). ROAD TRIPS TO THE REAL WORLD are coordinated by EACE for students from colleges and universities that are represented by membership in EACE.

Prime Access:
Prime Access is a full-service agency that specializes in URBAN MAJORITY™ advertising services. We offer our clients unique access to African American, Hispanic, gay and urban youth consumers, using a sophisticated communications mix of targeted advertising, online presence, direct marketing, event sponsorship and interactive community outreach. We created the term URBAN MAJORITY™ to capture the increasingly influential role played by African American, Hispanic, gay and urban youth consumers, and the specialized marketing communications needed to reach them effectively.

SITE VISIT DESCRIPTION: The Senior VP, Media Director at the Partnership will be hosting, along with the Executive Creative Director at Prime Access, a full-service agency that creates Urban Majority advertising. Together, they will lead a presentation on the work that the organizations collaborated on. They will give an overview of the development of media messages from both the client's perspective and the interpretation by the creative agency's team to deliver the client's message.

The Philadelphia Zoo

The Philadelphia Zoo’s 42-acre Victorian garden is home to more than 1,300 animals, many of them rare and endangered. The Zoo, fulfilling its mission of conservation, science, education and recreation, supports and engages in conservation efforts to protect endangered species around the world. Cheetahs, hippos, giraffes and much more make the Zoo Philadelphia's leading family attraction with over 1.2 million visitors last year. Students will tour the zoo while learning about the complex structure that keeps America’s First Zoo running. We will visit the various departments from membership to animal care, and if possible, meet with keepers and curators. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our various internships, volunteer positions, and seasonal jobs that would prepare them for a career with the zoo. Anyone with a passion for animals, conservation and education is encouraged to attend – even if they major in seemingly unrelated fields.

The site visit will include the following: a tour of the station; admittance to an XPN Free at Noon Concert; and a talk by Bruce Warren, XPN’s Programming Director, about the difference between public radio and commercial, production of the acclaimed program World Cafe, and careers in radio, among other topics.
