EACE
GRANT FOR RESEARCH
Assists active members in conducting research related to college
recruitment and career development. The EACE Grant for Research
awards up to $1000.00 to the recipient for the purpose of conducting
research which will further the stated professional purposes
of EACE and its members.
Eligibility:
The principle researcher must be a current EACE member in good
standing.
Application/Proposal Instructions:
Proposals and applications must be submitted to the EACE Awards/Research
Grants Committee by the specified deadline date (March 15, 2008).
Applications and proposals can be e-mailed, faxed or mailed. All
applications should include typed or printed researcher names
and researcher signatures. (Copies of e-mailed applications should
therefore be mailed as a follow-up to any e-mail application within
one week of the deadline date).
Proposals should be no longer than 15 typed, double-spaced
pages (including illustrations and charts) and should include
the following:
- Problem statement: the purpose and objectives of the research,
along with the question/hypothesis to be tested.
- Explanation of relevance to professional purposes of EACE
and its members: career services and college relations/recruiting
professionals.
- Any background information (e.g., literature, previous studies,
and statistics) related to the problem.
- A description of the research methodology: how data will
be collected, outlines of any planned surveys or tests, and
information on how data will be analyzed.
- If the research involves human subjects, the related training
that has been completed or planned.
- A timetable for the different phases of the project/research,
with targeted dates of completion for each phase.
- A detailed and comprehensive projected budget. Included
in this budget should be all sources and amounts of financial
support for the project (matching funds from your institution,
anticipated in-kind services and personnel support), all anticipated
expenses (supplies, computer resources, travel, postage, printing,
time or resource charge-backs from your institution, etc).
Capital expenses will generally not be approved.
- Exhibits or appendices as necessary.
Selection Criteria
The Awards/Research Grants Committee will evaluate the Research
Grant application and proposal and a nominee will be submitted
to the EACE Executive Board for final approval. The Grant Recipient
will be announced at the Annual EACE Conference. Award applications
will be reviewed and a nominee chosen by the following selection
criteria:
- Relevance and usefulness to EACE membership
- Originality
- Clarity of objectives and goals
- Quality of design
- Appropriateness and reasonableness of budget
Progress Reports and Award Distribution
Quarterly Reports will be submitted to the Awards/Research
Grants Chair on a schedule to be set at the beginning of the
fiscal year (when the Research should commence). The progress
cited in these reports should mirror the timetable outlined
in the Grant Proposal. The grant will be distributed in four
equal, quarterly installments and upon successful completion,
submission, and acceptance of the Quarterly Progress Reports.
Any changes to the research timeline or objectives are subject
to the approval of the EACE Executive Board and cannot be undertaken
without that approval. Any changes made without the approval
of the Board risk cancellation of the grant award.
A final report is to be presented at the conclusion of the
research and in the form established at the commencement of
the research by the Standard Agreement signed by EACE and the
Award Recipient.
Standard Agreement
At the commencement of the Research, which should coincide
with the beginning of the fiscal year, the Association and the
Research Award Recipient will sign a Standard Agreement that
will outline the financial and legal obligations of the research
award. The Agreement will address the following concerns:
- Expectations for Quarterly Reports
- Expectations for the Final Report on the conclusions of
the research
- Expectations for presenting the results of the research
to the membership (possible presentation venues could include,
but are not limited to, presentation at the annual conference
or in a network or professional development program, and/or
publication in a professional journal or in a report to the
membership).
- Establishment of intellectual property rights for any research,
which results in a new product or service expected to be used
by EACE, its members or the general public.
- Plan for human subjects research training, if required.
