EACE Bridges Committee Needs Your Suggestions and Your Expertise!

The committee is exploring a new direction for Bridges and we would appreciate your involvement. Do you have a suggested theme or topic that you think might be good for Bridges to highlight? We want to hear it! Do you have ideas for resources that would be helpful to share with the EACE membership? We’ll take those too! Even better, do you have an area of expertise that you would like to share with our members? Bring it on! Please be in touch with Bridges co-chairs, Janine Burt jburt@bennington.edu, or Elisa Seeherman eseeherman@uarts.edu to share your thoughts, ideas, or suggestions. The Bridges committee is also seeking additional committee members for regular contributions to Bridges, one-time offerings, and editors. Can you give some time to sharing great information to EACE members?

This information was brought to you by the Bridges Newsletter Committee.

Attention All Employers: Road Trips to the Real World is Back

Site visits are an opportunity for students to learn first-hand about various career fields, network with employers, and explore internship and job opportunities. Although the focus of the Road Trips program is exploratory in nature and not intended for recruiting purposes, it is a wonderful opportunity for you to showcase your organization to future potential candidates.

As a participating employer, you are welcome to choose a date and to design the structure for your site visit. Typically, site visits include a panel discussion by employees representing various areas of the organization. Topics of discussion often center on employee backgrounds, job responsibilities, internships and jobs, and advice for entering the field. In addition to panels, site visits can also consist of a tour of the facilities and an opportunity to meet with recent college hires.

Please complete the online form by October 31, 2011.

A Message from President John Fracchia Regarding Hurricane Irene

As we all know, Hurricane Irene brought extreme weather to the region that is served by EACE. While we are thankful that it wasn't as severe as was initially anticipated, it nevertheless hit some areas very hard causing disruption of services, property damage and tragically, loss of life. It is difficult to know whether, or to what extent, our EACE colleagues have been impacted by the storm, but undoubtedly many of our communities were.

Often during times such as this we want to help those who have been most directly affected, but are not sure about how to best do so. I send this message to you as a show of support and to provide you with information about organizations to which you may wish to contribute or, which may be able to provide you with help if you have been directly impacted.

American Red Crossboth funds and blood are needed.
FEMAexcellent disaster assistance information.
Network For Good information about additional direct service providers. All have been vetted.

Our thoughts are with those of you who have been significantly impacted by this storm and with your families. If EACE can help in some way, please let me know.

Sincerely,

John Fracchia
President, EACE

EACE Consulting Service

Thinking about assessing the programs and services offered by your career office? Consider using the EACE Consulting Service. Our team is comprised of over a dozen EACE members with a wealth of experience representing the diversity of our region and member institutions. We’ll work with you to develop a plan to review your office, conduct an on-site visit to meet with key stakeholders, and deliver a report of findings and recommendations to help with your assessment and future plans. During this difficult budgetary climate, a consulting review can be helpful in your negotiations to maintain or add staff and resources!
